Vodafone launches own wired telephony service in Romania

Mobile phone operator Vodafone announced on Tuesday the launch of its own wired telephony services for residential consumers in Romania. The “Vodafone Acasa” offer contains four types of subscriptions with tariffs varying between 4 and 10 US dollars/month, VAT not included, a company press release says.

The service will be initially available on Sagem MyH10 phones but Vodafone officials say other terminals will be gradually added to the portfolio.

The company thus enters a market sector once fully controlled by Romtelecom, the former state-owned telephony operator now controlled by OTE. The sector has been gradually luring other telecom companies for several years. Vodafone and Orange were seen by Romtelecom as key challengers to the company’s domination of the wired telephony market.

“Vodafone Acasa” clients will have free access to services such as cost control, client relations, waiting calls, conferences and SMS.

The service numbers will start with 0372 - followed by six figures.
