Bucharest Mayor, Adriean Videanu, was impressed with Madrid's Mercamadrid marketplace and decided that Romanians should benefit from the same kind of facilities.
According to a City Hall release, a location has to be found before fall for a similar construction. Mercamadrid covers some 100 hectares and has specialized areas for fruits and vegetables, fish, dairy and meat.
"The rapid development of the Capital imposes the presence of a spacey market, able to respect the European demands in food safety for fresh products", said Videanu.
A partnership with the Madrid city hall and with Mercamadrid may be signed for the new project development.
