Romanians in Gaza Strip return home

A group of 31 Romanians living in the Gaza Strip, mostly children and women, arrived in Bucharest on Saturday night as operations to repatriate them came to an end. They flew to Bucharest on a government plane after they left Gaza at the Erez checkpoint on Saturday morning.

Romanian Foreign minister Adrian Cioroianu also issued an appeal for Romanian citizens in tense areas across the world to keep in touch with Romanian diplomatic missions there permanently.

The Romanian Embassy to Israel offered a bus to transport the group of 31 to the border between Israel and Jordan. It also provided food and water for the group.

The Romanian Foreign Ministry thanked Israeli authorities for their cooperation in allowing the Romanian citizens leave Gaza and cross the Israeli territory to Jordan, a ministry press release says.
