Romanian Ambassador to Austria recalled home

Romanian President Traian Basescu signed on Tuesday a decree recalling Romanian Ambassador to Austria, Andrei Corbea-Hoisie, who has announced his resignation following a verdict by the main body studying the files of the communist-era Securitate, that he had collaborated with the ex-dictator Nicolae Ceausescu’s dreaded political police.

Corbea-Hoisie was named Ambassador to Vienna in summer 2005 after 20 years as an academic at the University of Iasi, eastern Romania. He is also known for his collaboration with various foreign universities such as Paris VIII, Ecole Normale Superieure Paris, Sorbonne and Friburg.
