Piata Universitatii (the University Plaza), the traditional spot for spontaneous meetings, is crowded with several hundreds of demonstrators and the number is increasing. Speakers were installed and it seems the suspended president Basescu will arrive soon.
The Democrat Party, formerly lead by Basescu, denies any involvement in organizing the meeting. Opposition officials fear riots, although the City Hall approved the meeting around 17.00 hours, hours after it begun.
UPDATE: Hotnews.ro readers signal that similar meetings are about to burst also in other major cities. Forum participants fear the presence of violent instigators, purposely sent to justify the intervention of gendarmes.
