Brussels criticizes Bulgaria for Justice problems

Brussels officials have received with skepticism a report submitted by Bulgaria last Friday on its progress in the reform of the Justice system, according to an AFP report according to which the European Comission has yet, however, to make an official stand on the issue. Bulgaria and Romania presented their reports on Friday prior to an official EC evaluation later this spring.

The AFP quotes several high ranking European officials who made a series of negative comments on the Bulgarian report. According to an official diplomat in Sofia, quoted by the agency, Bulgarian authorities “have not done anything yet” to sentence at least one key important personality involved in drug trafficking, embezzlement or money laundering.

It’s a pity for Bulgarians and for all Europeans who suffer the consequences of such an impunity, the official was quoted as saying.
