"Global warming" affects Romanian football clubs

Mircea Sandu, the head of the Romanian Football Federation - FRF, has said that if winter days kept being as warm as this year than the calendar of football matches in Romania might change and the holiday season for football players might get shorter.

Sandu, quoted by Associated Press, said the fall season might conclude on December 23 and the spring season may start on January 15. This would shorten the winter break by almost a month.

Romania recorded unprecedented warm days in January and February this year, with temperatures rising well above 10 degrees Celsius in many parts of the country, compared to usual temperatures of 0 degrees or below.
