The disputes within the North-Atlantic Organization opened once again at the latest summit in Riga, with the NATO leaders failing to reach an agreement on the Organization’s future involvement in Afghanistan.
While the US wish for a troops supplementation, several European countries, led by Germany and France, oppose the idea and refuse to sent more military to Southern Afghanistan, the most critical area because of the Taliban actions.
The future of the Alliance is also uncertain, the summit failing to decide whether the enlargement will continue or it would remain at the present dimensions.
