Pedophile historian Treptow to be freed on parole

American historian Kurt Treptow, sentenced to seven years in prison for the sexual corruption of two underaged girls, will be freed on Tuesday as Iasi-based judges accepted his request for parole, according to news station Realitatea TV.

His lawyers argued he should be released before his term because he wrote a science paper on the life of medieval Romanian ruler Vlad Dracul - the source of inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

Lawyers argued that according to law his sentenced should be reduced by three days for each two days spent working on the paper while in prison.

Treptow was sentenced to seven years in a Iasi, Eastern Romania jail in 2002 under pedophilia charges.
