On the eve of the Oscars, Sharon Stone's Basic Instinct II was named the worst film of 2006 Saturday night in the annual Golden Raspberry awards.
Also known as the Razzies, the annual worst of the worst film awards have become an established tradition every year, putting the glamour of Hollywood celebrated on the following night's Oscars into a more prosaic perspective.
The sequel to Stone's sexy Basic Instinct thriller from 1992 dominated the 27th annual awards, collecting the dubious honour of worst film, worst actress, worst screenplay and worst prequel or sequel.
The comedy Little Man picked up three Razzies, including worst remake or rip-off, and worst screen couple for Shawn and Marlon Wayans who also shared the prize for worst actor.
Indian filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan was named worst director and worst supporting actor for contribution to the expensive flop Lady in the Water.
