Public servants in two-hour warning strike


Public servants working in Romanian town halls, custom points and fiscal administration offices across the country halted work for two hours on Monday morning, in protest against low salaries and bad working conditions. The protest today may be followed by a general strike, the head of the Finance sector trade union federation, Vasile Marica, warned for Realitatea TV news station.

Public servants claim a boost of the average salary to 1,225 RON, a fidelity bonus of 3-20% of the salary, a confidentiality bonus of 15% odf the salary, the application of a career-based hierarchy and the adoption of a fixed salary system for contracted personnel.
