European Commissioner for regional policies Danuta Hubner warned the government of several member states as well as Romania and Bulgaria that they have yet to deliver plans for regional development, according to the Novinite.com news website.
All these countries have a duty to explain to the Commission how they would use the EU funds to stimulate economic growth and create jobs.
The Commissioner explained the funds for regional development the current member states, Romania and Bulgaria would receive were amounting to over 350 billion euro for the period of 2007-2013, accounting for 35% of the EU budget for this period.
While the countries have a duty to inform the Commission on how they’d spend the funds, it is Brussels where what projects would be founded is decided.
