Starting this Friday, the domestic electricity consumers will pay some 5% more for their consumption as a result of the combined increasing price in natural gas and low Danube flow that influenced the hydro power production.
The National Energy Regulation Authority (ANRE) claims that the price growth comes one month early also because of coal provisioning dysfunctions. Last price adjustment was operated in January 2006, 1.85%.

A week without Agriculture Minister
Liberals failed to find a replacement for the recently resigned Agriculture Minister, Gheorghe Flutur. A few names were spread via rumors: former Finance Minister Traian Decebal Remes, Bucharest Liberal branch president Ludovic Orban and the chief of the Agriculture Ministry, Alexandru Moisuc.
Hotnews.ro sources within the Liberal Party claim the games are made and the next minister woud be Remes. Some support was also offered to the Liberal state secretary in the Agriculture Ministry, Nicolae Flaviu Lazin, who confirmed that he submitted a resume.
Meanwhile, lots of bills wait to be paid for, but there’s no one entitled to sign.

Integration Ministry to become Regional Development Ministry
Romania Must absorb some 30 billion euros between 2007 and 2013, as its share of the post-accession funds. The authority to manage these funds is the current Integration Minster, which is about to transform, in 2007, into the Regional Development Ministry.
Out of the total 30 billion euros, 1.5 billions must be spent in 2007.

Roche Romania grows 30%
Roche Romania reported for the third quarter sales worth over 25.8 million euros, some 30% increase, compared to Q3 in 2005. The total business during the first nine months was over 71 million euros.
Between July and September, the most dynamic products were the transplant, virus and obesity-related drugs, as well as the new products launched on the market, said Dan Zamonea, general manager at Roche Romania. The market share grew from 7.2 to 7.6%, compared to Q3 2005.

MEPs accept Romanian nomination for EC seat
European Parliament commissions decided on Tuesday to approve the nomination of Leonard Orban as EU’s future Commissioner for Multilingualism after his preliminary hearing before MEPs on Monday. But EP president Josep Borell suggested to expand Orban’s responsibilities to include minority rights, according to an AFP report.
Talks in the EP commissions after Orban answered European parliamentarians’ questions focused on two issues: first, his performance yesterday was appreciated by most EP groups; second, further work was needed to clarify the need for a portfolio within the European Commission, to tackle multilingualism exclusively.
The Romanian Commissioner will receive the final vote of the EP plenary in a December 12 session.
EP commissions also agreed with Bulgarian nominee Meglena Kuneva. After her own appearance before EU parliamentarians yesterday, she was found to have the professional experience needed to tackle her future portfolio as a commissioner for consumer protection.

EUObserver: Romania hosted secret CIA flights, EP says
Romania and ten other countries will be shamed in a final report of the European Parliament commission investigating secret CIA flights in Europe, a report that is due to be published on Wednesday, EUObserver.com reports.
Besides Romania, the report will also mention Britain, Germany, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Greece, Cyprus, Italy and Poland.
The source says the report will mention Germany as the host of most CIA flights- 336, followed by the UK and Ireland. The flights are thought to have carried prisoners to the Guantanamo base or to Uzbekistan illegally.
Claudio Fava, who will present the report tomorrow, is expected to say that Poland has hosted a temporary detention center for terrorism suspects near the Szymanow airport in NW of the country.
And the document would qualify Romania, Italy, Britain, Austria and Macedonia as uncooperative in the EP inquiry into the secret CIA flights.

Group hearings in strategic privatizations case
Six of eight people suspected of illegal activities related to the privatization of Romanian strategic companies faced prosecutors on Tuesday, including several foreign citizens charged with crimes against the national security of the country.
The group numbers Mihai Donciu, an IT&C Ministry official with responsibilities in the privatization of Romanian companies; Bulgarian consultant Stamen Stancev, officially charged with espionage; Turkish citizen Mustafa Oral; and British citizen of Russian citizen Vadim Beniatov Don.
An official of the Economy Ministry’s State Assets Office, Dorinel Mucea, and the head of a judicial department of the Privatization Office in Bucharest, Robert Neagoe, also faced prosecutors today.
The inquiry against them was launched as DIICOT, the main body investigating organized crime and terrorism cases in Romania, has received a notification about the existence of an organized crime group formed around Bulgarian citizen Stancev and involved in the leaking of classified information related to the sale of Romanian energy companies.
DIICOT has also launched inquiries into the case-related activities of two other people, Czech Michal Susak, an international consultant, and Romanian Mircea Calin Flore, permanent representative to Romania for a banking consultancy company.
